About me
So, allow me to introduce myself. I’m currently 24 years of age, born but not raised in Singapore. My parents had their own business which caused them to move around most of South-East Asia. Which meant my siblings and I had to go wherever they went (Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia etc.) that also meant we were mostly homeschooled. But at the age of 14 I wanted to “experience being a normal teenager” so I started my high school years in a Bilingual school located in Hatyai, Thailand. ONE of the worst decisions I had ever made, which also caused me to DROP OUT. That is where my main journey began. Started my career straight out of High School, because I never wanted to study or found anything that interested me (Surprise…?). I was 17 and started working as a banquet server. I thought “Hey, this is fun, I love making other people happy, so why not make a career out of it” boy was I in for a surprise. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was an amazing experience If you use it to your benefit to travel, and experience a little of the “outside world”. After a few years of gained experience in a few places, I ended up working in a 5-star resort in the Maldives! What a catch! I lived by the ocean, I saved a shit ton of money (While spending some too 😉) and took a whole 35-day vacation in Bali to visit my Family. Had the time of my life, and I also met, whom I call now the love of my life and my best friend (Ben). Let’s skip the cheesy part, shall we?
After a few months of “courting” we decided to take things to another level, and by this time I had already quit my job in the Maldives with a “better opportunity” lined up for me in Singapore (Managerial Position in this case). So, I took everything I had with my in a suitcase, decided to visit him in the lovely city called Berlin and had one of the best 6 weeks of my life traveling to Italy and Greece with him. Sadly, time went by and it was time for me to face reality. We kept a long-distance relationship for a year and let me tell you my friends, it was not fun. I was sick and tired of my job, lack of sleep and, I guess lack of a better word, sex. Again, I quit my job, took everything I had with me and moved to Berlin. Things did no go well, as I spent most of my time learning German, or at least trying, and applying for jobs (Don’t forget the excessive partying available in Berlin). Things went downhill from there, I was out of a job for 3 months, also my German sucked.
- Small tip if you need/want to learn a new language (Specifically German), attend all your god damn classes and do it wholeheartedly. I learnt it the hard way.
We finally made a plan to head to Bali via Singapore and spend a month there, while I find a job and a place in Singapore for me to “gather” some money and live for 2 months. Once I “gathered” enough money and stayed out of the Schengen Zone long enough for me to be able to get back in, I got a flight straight back to Berlin. I immediately started off learning German from back where I left off (A.1.2) and REALLY learnt it, we even hired a tutor for me twice a week after classes. I was ready to go by the end of my course, and I passed my German exam with flying colors! Yay me! But first, let’s dial back by a couple of months to the same routine of applying for jobs and getting rejected over and over again, which can literally break a person. Somehow it finally came to my mind that I love fitness and things to do with the human body, but I had no idea where to start. We were running out of time, or at least I was, and we had to make a decision by the end of January. After weeks of talking and arguing, finally landed on the decision to move to Cyprus for the next 3 months starting from the end of February.
