First Night in Larnaca
My partner and I arrived Larnaca Airport (Easyjet) from Berlin (Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld) on the 26th of February 2019 at 18:30. After a bumpy flight we finally made it through immigration and stamped into the country. For those of you who don’t know these budget airlines, they don’t provide any complimentary food or drinks (Bring your own food and water!!). Any who, we grabbed our suitcases from the belt and proceeded to the taxi line (No Line at all). Surprisingly, we managed to get a taxi within 5-7mins including walking to the car with our fat suitcases and backpacks. First of all, download a bloody offline map (if you do not have a European number or any roaming, trust me you will thank me), some of these taxi drivers will actually ask YOU to navigate to you desired destination (That’s if you don’t have a hotel booked to give a name of), Good thing I always come prepared. We arrived at our destination after 15mins (7.6km from the airport) which costed 15Euros (Bargain? Hmmm not sure, I just know that I won’t be taking another taxi anytime soon.) Firstly, the place we have is a very cute 2-bedroom apartment with only 5mins walking distance to the Finikounda beach, convenient. After dropping our bags, we decided to get some food and walked down to the beach, not a pleasant sight. We walked and realized that majority of the restaurants sold sushi! Unfortunately, if you decide to have a long-term trip in Cyprus, especially Larnaca, I suggest you cook and just eat out during the weekends or not at all. After walking for what I would say an hour (10mins) our indecisiveness lead to us having, What I personally call “Cypriot Traditional Fast Food”, I had Souvlaki in Pita bread and my partner had Spareribs cooked in a sweet BBQ sauce with a large number of fries and to pair with this disgustingly delicious meal, a free mug of beer each (Usually KEO beer, the company that makes KEO beer, also sells KEO water, and KEO juices).
Many more stories to come. Until then
